Tillandsia streptophylla

(6 customer reviews)

£20.00

Native to Mexico and Costa Rica, Tillandsia streptophylla is one of the more curious looking air plants.

When grown in relatively arid conditions, its leaves grow twisted and curl toward the base of the plant.  In more moist environments, the leaves take on a straighter appearance, testimony to the adaptability of these plants.

In bright light the newer leaves blush shades of soft pinkish red to velvety plum colour.

    T. streptophylla is a stunning species and is all the better in the flesh. My specimen was received in excellent condition and the contorted leaves are amazing. The plant has quite thick and almost succulent leaves and is very compact, almost ball-like, making it feel surprisingly weighty. This is well worth the price and seldom seen to buy in garden centres so treat yourself and you won’t be disappointed.
The packing was thoughtful and sturdy: each plant in my order was individually wrapped in tissue paper, each had a printed name tag, and the whole order packed in a bubblewrapped lined cardboard box, properly labelled “Live plants FRAGILE”. The one price shipping cost, regardless of order size, was dispatched Royal Mail 48 Tracked service and I was kept informed by email a throughout my order. A truly faultless experience and very happy to recommend Craftyplants; perfection.
