Tillandsia x rectifolia

Tillandsia x rectifolia is one of the very few air plants that produces a bi-coloured flower with its white and purple flowers.  Originallly a naturally occuring hybrid of Tillandsia ionantha and Tillandsia schiedeana, this air plant is now so prolific in the wild that it is known as an introgressive hybrid.  Thanks to its interesting parentage, Tillandsia rectifolia often carries the ionantha trait of blushing around flowering season.
