Native to northeast Mexico, Agave americana ‘Variegata’ is one of the most commonly cultivated species of agave.
One of the most structural Agaves for that truly tropical feel, its leaves are a pale grey-green with wide yellow margins. Prefers full sun and well drained compost. Protect from frosts in the winter. Can be grown as a conservatory plant or potted patio plant where the constraints of the pot will limit it’s size. Planted in the open ground in mild areas it can reach an adult size of 6′ x 6′ and can produce flower spikes upto 20′ in height.
