A South American air plant, Tillandsia bandensis is native to Uraguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.

It’s name is derived from the Banda Oriental del Uraguay (the eastern bank of the Uraguay river).

Quite common in nature, Tillandsia bandensis is rarely offered for commercial sale.  A small air plant, Tillandsia bandensis is a member of the miniature subgenus Diaphoranthema.  Although its flowers are small they are produced in abundance on established clumps. I received a quite thick clump of this plant, which arrived totally healthy (never had a problem with any plant from Craftyplants, and I’ve had a lot). Excellent packaging to ensure you receive an undamaged plant. Thanks again Alex and Graham for yet another plant to add to my miniature collection! xx
