Vriesea bleheri

Debatable name, sometimes seen as Vriesea bleherae. Originally collected by mother and son Amanda and Michael Bleher, the species ephithet has caused debate among taxonomists as to whether it should remain as originally named V. bleheri (being the male epithet) or renamed V. bleherae (the female epithet). As Latin has no provision for a gender neutral species epithet this may be a debate best left for the taxonomists. In the meantime, we’ll stick with V. bleheri, being the original published name.

For potting, a good orchid compost is the simplest option. For mounting, a generous amount of sphagnum moss wrapped around the base of the plant will encourage rooting.
